The iPhone 16 Pro was officially unveiled on September 9, 2024, during Apple’s fall keynote, with pre-orders beginning on September 13 and general availability on September 20, 2024. As Apple’s flagship “Pro” model for 2024, it introduces slightly larger dimensions and a suite of premium design enhancements.
Measuring 149.6 × 71.5 × 8.25 mm (height × width × depth) and weighing 199 g, the iPhone 16 Pro houses a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display at 2622 × 1206 pixels (460 ppi), featuring both Always-On and ProMotion (up to 120 Hz) technologies for smoother scrolling and glanceable widgets. Its screen is framed by the thinnest borders ever on an Apple device, thanks to new under-pixel circuitry that pushes display data lines beneath active pixels.
The chassis shifts to a titanium frame—lighter yet stronger than stainless steel—paired with a latest-generation Ceramic Shield front and a textured matte glass back, offering enhanced durability and a premium hand-feel (Apple). Apple also debuts a Camera Control Button, a configurable tactile switch dedicated to photo and video capture, positioned just below the expanded Action Button, which now supports system-wide shortcuts.
Internally, the iPhone 16 Pro is powered by the new A18 Pro chip and benefits from a re-engineered thermal architecture that accommodates a larger battery without increasing thickness. The rear camera array remains a triple-lens system—wide, ultra-wide and periscope telephoto—with improved low-light performance, spatial video capture for Vision Pro, and Dolby Atmos-tuned Spatial Audio recording.
